📋 Exam Overview
JJA Skill Test — What You Are Actually Walking Into
The CG High Court JJA selection has two phases. Phase I (Screening): 100-mark MCQ test — General Studies, CG GK, Computer Knowledge, Reasoning. No minus marking. Based on Phase I merit, 15 candidates per vacancy (1:15 ratio) are shortlisted for the skill test. Phase I marks stop mattering after shortlisting. Phase II (Skill Test): This is everything. 50 marks total — 25 marks Hindi typing (250 words, 10 min) + 25 marks English typing (300 words, 10 min). Deduction: 0.25 marks per mistake. No minimum qualifying marks for JJA. The final merit list is prepared entirely on skill test marks. Higher your typing score, higher your rank, better your posting. There is no combined score — skill test alone decides your job.

✏️ Formatting in JJA Exam
The JJA Passage Has Formatting — This Changes Your Whole Strategy
The JJA skill test passage is a legal court document — not plain prose. It contains bold text, italic text, underlined text, Heading 1 and Heading 2 styles, bullet lists, numbered lists, superscript, and subscript. You must reproduce all formatting exactly as shown, using LibreOffice Writer keyboard shortcuts.
⌨️ LibreOffice Shortcuts You Must Know for JJA
| Format | Shortcut in LibreOffice |
| Bold | Ctrl + B |
| Italic | Ctrl + I |
| Underline | Ctrl + U |
| Heading 1 (main title) | Ctrl + 1 |
| Heading 2 (section head) | Ctrl + 2 |
| Sub-heading / Heading 3 | Ctrl + 3 |
| Bullet list | Shift + F12 (or toolbar) |
| Numbered list | F12 (or toolbar) |
| Superscript (302क) | Ctrl + Shift + P |
| Subscript (H2O) | Ctrl + Shift + B |
| Normal text (turn off heading) | Ctrl + 0 |
🚨 Why 25 WPM Is Not Enough for JJA
Official minimum: 25 WPM Hindi. But the passage has 15–25 format changes. Each format change (shortcut on + type + shortcut off) costs 2–4 seconds. Over a 10-minute test that is 30–100 seconds lost — equivalent to 8–10 WPM reduction. A candidate typing 25 WPM plain will produce only 15–17 WPM net in a formatted exam. Practice target: 35 WPM Hindi and 40 WPM English on plain text. With that buffer, you clear 25/30 WPM comfortably even after formatting overhead.
🎯 30-Day Strategy
JJA Skill Test — 30-Day Preparation Plan
This plan takes you from any starting level to 35+ WPM Hindi and 40+ WPM English with formatting — which is what you need to score high in the JJA skill test and secure your job. Follow it consistently and do not skip the formatting practice weeks.
📅 Week 1 — Choose Layout, Learn Keys (Days 1–7)
- Decide: Vedmata m17n or Remington Gail m17n? View both layout images on TypingWarriors. Pick based on your existing knowledge.
- Practice your chosen layout character by character — home row first, then upper, then lower. 30 min/day. No timing yet.
- Also memorise all LibreOffice formatting shortcuts listed above. Drill them on an open LibreOffice document without typing any text — just shortcut practice.
- Goal: All key positions known, all 10 shortcuts memorised.
📅 Week 2 — Words + Legal Vocabulary (Days 8–14)
- Type common legal Hindi words 20 times each: न्यायालय, याचिका, प्रतिवादी, अभियुक्त, संविधान, अधिकारी, शपथपत्र, निर्णय, आदेश, अपील.
- Start 2-minute timed tests on TypingWarriors. Focus: accuracy above 92%, not speed.
- Practice conjunct characters daily: क्ष, त्र, ज्ञ, श्र, द्ध — these appear heavily in legal Hindi.
- English: 15 min/day on court-style English passages. Target 25+ WPM.
📅 Week 3 — Speed Building + Formatting Practice (Days 15–21)
- 5-minute tests daily. Hindi target: 3000 KDPH / 28+ WPM.
- Start practicing formatted passages — apply bold, italic, headings as you type. Track your WPM including formatting time.

- English: push to 35+ WPM.
📅 Week 4 — Exam-Ready Polish (Days 22–30)
- Daily 10–15 minute tests on formatted passages. Target: 35+ WPM Hindi, 40+ WPM English plain; 25+ WPM and 30+ WPM with formatting.
- 3 sessions this week on actual Ubuntu + LibreOffice — the real exam environment. Especially important for IBus behavior familiarity.

❓ FAQ
CG High Court JJA Skill Test 2026 — Frequently Asked Questions
When will the CG High Court JJA Skill Test 2026 be held? ▼
The written exam was held on January 4, 2026. As of July 2026, the skill test date has not been announced. Skill test call letters are issued after shortlisting — typically 6–10 weeks after written results are published. Monitor vyapamcg.cgstate.gov.in and highcourt.cg.gov.in. Start practicing now so you are fully prepared the moment the date is announced.
Is the JJA skill test just qualifying or merit-based? ▼
The written exam (Phase I) is a screening test only — it shortlists 15 candidates per vacancy (1:15 ratio) for the skill test. Phase I marks play no role after that. The final merit list is prepared entirely on skill test marks. 50 marks total — 25 Hindi + 25 English. Deduction 0.25 per mistake. No minimum qualifying marks for JJA. Score as high as possible: skill test rank = job rank.
Which keyboard layout should I use for JJA — Vedmata or Remington Gail? ▼
Both Vedmata m17n and Remington Gail m17n are available in the JJA exam hall on the Ubuntu Linux system via IBus. You choose before starting. If you already know Remington Gail from CPCT/MP Court, choose Remington Gail m17n. If you are learning Hindi typing fresh, choose Vedmata m17n — its phonetic mapping is easier to learn from zero. TypingWarriors supports both with keyboard images and practice modes.
What formatting is required in the JJA typing exam? ▼
The JJA exam passage is a legal court document with bold text (Ctrl+B), italic (Ctrl+I), underline (Ctrl+U), Heading 1 (Ctrl+1), Heading 2 (Ctrl+2), sub-headings (Ctrl+3), bullet lists, numbered lists, superscript (Ctrl+Shift+P), and subscript (Ctrl+Shift+B). All must be applied using LibreOffice Writer shortcuts on Ubuntu Linux. Missing or incorrect formatting costs marks.
What typing speed should I target for JJA skill test? ▼
Official minimum: 25 WPM Hindi and 30 WPM English. But the formatted passage reduces your effective speed by 8–10 WPM. Your practice target should be 35 WPM Hindi and 40 WPM English on plain text. At 35 WPM plain, you will comfortably clear 25 WPM net even with full formatting overhead. Since final merit = skill test marks, aim for maximum accuracy and speed. Every 0.25 mark counts — that is one mistake difference between you and the next candidate.
How is JJA different from CPCT in terms of typing? ▼
Several key differences: (1) JJA uses Ubuntu Linux + LibreOffice; CPCT uses Windows + browser. (2) JJA allows Vedmata m17n OR Remington Gail m17n via IBus; CPCT uses Mangal Remington Gail via Windows IME. (3) JJA passage has rich formatting (bold, headings, bullets, superscript); CPCT is plain text. (4) JJA skill test marks ARE the final merit — highest scorer gets selected. CPCT is a standalone certification used as eligibility proof. Prepare specifically for JJA — CPCT preparation alone is insufficient.
